Q: What is the school wifi? How do I connect?
A: NCPA-Faculty is the wifi for all NCPA staff. All the school laptops and iPads will be set up before assigned to you. For your personal devices using in education areas, please contact IT to register them, otherwise, you will not have permission to connect even though you have a password.
Q: How to use the wifi in my apartment?
A: WiFi network will be named as your room number. A sheet for wifi password is stuck on the table of living room if you are on campus. You can skip the network registration while you only use your own devices (or your guest devices) in your apartment. For OT or Downtown staff, your wifi password is stuck on the wifi router.
Q: When should I use a VPN?
A: You should use a VPN only when you are off-campus. You have to turn off the VPN when you are on campus, otherwise, you can’t connect to the printer. It is also possible that the speed will be slow down when you use VPN on campus.
Q: Which VPN should be used off-campus?
A: Cisco AnyConnect is the best option if you are accessing school platforms. Otherwise you may need to use a personal VPN such as Express VPN or Astrill to access sites that are not in China.
