To ensure a smooth transition to next school year, please review the following guidelines prior to the last day of school.
For Departing Staff #
You will lose access to your school accounts after the last day of school as your professional responsibilities are concluded. Prior to the last day of school, you should:
- Return your laptop and other IT equipment checked out to you like speakers and document cameras.
- Return remote controls for projectors (please label with room #) to the IT office. The IT department does not need your AC remotes.
- Work with the Director of Teaching and Learning to ensure that you have stored all of your files in your department SharePoint.
- Make a copy of your OneDrive files on a flash drive so that you can copy them to your personal computer or upload them to a personal cloud account like Google Drive or iCloud. To do this, first sync your OneDrive files to your computer (instructions). Then, drag the OneDrive folder on your computer to an external USB flash or hard drive.
- Inform your banks, movers, insurance companies, etc. not to use your work email for correspondence. If they have your work email on file you should update it with your personal information so they can get in touch with you after you leave NCPA.
- Make a copy of your school email, if desired.
- Export your Canvas file as an IMSCC ZIP file (instructions), which you’ll be able to import into your next school’s LMS or to an account you create on the free version of Canvas (http://canvas.instructure.com).
- Make sure the counseling department and HR department have your personal email addresses on file so students can get in touch with you for letters of recommendation.
For Returning Staff #
- If you are due for a laptop replacement, the IT department will contact you to replace your laptop.
- Your Canvas courses are not deleted, and you will be able to copy content from this year’s course to next year’s course in August using these instructions. OPTIONAL: If you would like to keep student assignment submissions as exemplars, you can learn how here.
- You may keep your laptop over the summer, but please return for safekeeping other IT equipment checked out to you as well as the remote controls (please label with room #) for any projector, TV or another device. The IT department does not need your AC remotes.
- Set a vacation message on your email (instructions).
